Food Photography:

As with my other specialties, I keep my style clean, and natural.  In addition to all the tasty textures, gorgeous colours and thoughtful styling, I like to include elements that give a sense of time and place.

I try to bring studio to location by controlling the light, and location to the studio by making it look like a real place.

It's important to work collaboratively, from the Creative Director or Client's requirements ahead of time, to the Chef and/or Stylist's input on the day of the shoot.  There are no passive participants - we all influence the outcome of the shoot.  The pictures are a direct result of this process.  Many variables and decisions coalesce into a handful of photographs. It's very serendipitous.

In commercial work, it is often more controlled at every step.  From concepts and styling, to building sets, more controlled light and compositions, crop requirements, colour accuracy... and after all that, to have the end product feel weightless and natural, simple, but engaging.  These are the skills I bring to the table... just add food.
